Nowadays, the Order of the Knights Templar has gained popularity because of its famous symbols. There are a lot of decorations with their known red cross such as Knights Templar signet ring, pin, necklace, chain or pendant. The history of the appearance of this symbol is fascinating. At first, it was sewn on the left shoulder on the cloak. A bit later, Templar Cross was moving on the chest and back, gloves, shields, and weapons. There were a set of rules, which crosses were allowed to wear. Everything depends on the will of the Grand Master of the Order.
What were the Knights Templar rules?
To become a member of the Order, a person first had to earn the trust of someone from the command of the Templars. It was essential to attract attention to yourself. It is worth to say that their lifestyle was rigorous. Entering the Order, every knight had to give vows of obedience, poverty, and celibacy. Moreover, the Knights Templar code was so harsh that every person who became a member of the Order renounced from relatives. The knights had no rights to keep contact with the family.
The statute prohibited them from eating meat more often than three times a week. The meat was replaced by fish, vegetables and especially bean, which are the most potent natural prebiotics. They ate the fish that they bred themselves. Besides, it was also forbidden to eat game. According to the Latin rule, Templar knights were especially attentive to the purity and quality of the products. They ate only on clean tablecloths and were obliged to wash their hands before eating.
Their clothing was effortless. It was a white tunic with the picture of the red cross on the chest. The white color symbolizes the impermanence of the knight, and the blood-red cross meant the readiness to die in battle, without losing its dignity.
All the Templars were subordinated to the Supreme Master who took all the most critical decisions, but he was also obliged to consult with his headquarters.
It was forbidden to have relationships with women. The giving of the vow of celibacy was the necessary procedure for entering the Order. Violation of the promise was punishable by death.
If after the death of a knight-monk in his things were found gold, silver, or money, he lost the right to be buried on the holy ground, and according to this, he lost the status of a knight of the Order. If some money was manifested after the funeral, then the body should have been pulled out of the grave because such a knight had no right to lie in this land.
So knights Templar rules were very strict, but they were obligated to follow them. Violation of the regulations was severely punished.
